Join our St. Michaels program as a Youth Care Worker/ Flight Escort. The Youth Care Worker/Flight Escort provides personalized care and services that uphold program policies and procedures in accordance with licensure, ensuring childrens rights to a safe, culturally sensitive and age-appropriate environment is in place for the program on an as needed basis. Routinely assists in the transportation of clients for discharge and can also functions as Youth Care Worker in monitoring of clients as indicated by the clients service plan, including personal care, socialization, education, recreation, orientation, behavior management, and safety plans. As part of the program team, they are responsible for the coordination with the Transportation Team Leader and Shift Leader for documentation of client behavior and incident reporting. Youth Care Worker/Flight Escort participate in quality activities through their active contribution in monthly shift meetings, departmental meetings, program meetings, and required ongoing trainings.

TheExpertiseWe’re Looking For

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year employment experience in the child welfare field working with children and/or adolescents in a social service setting.
  • Valid Texas Drivers License
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.

What you Deliver

  • You will provide quality care and supervision to clients in accordance with program philosophy, policy and procedure and client rights. Provide safe and secure escort services to children in care needing transportation services. When not in escort/flight, serve in Youth Care Worker role to monitor all clients in ratio by supervising clients in their daily activities as outline in their personalized service plan as well as creating a safe and nurturing home environment; This including following direct supervision from their shift leader to ensure safety plans or behavior management plans are followed through as instructed. Additional activities may include providing transportation for clients; maintain ratio and supervision through activities, outings, and recreational outings. Must report any doubts, questions, or concerns regarding client behaviors immediately to the supervisor or before the shifts end.
  • You will effectively communicate information pertaining to the clients according to the program policies and procedures to ensure quality services and client safety. Maintain accurate and ongoing documentation regarding daily client care, activities, events, and changes in behaviors that occurred on duty, including but not limited to, progress notes and incident reports in the timeline necessary for the safety of clients and staff. Effectively communicate with other departments as necessary and communicate via e-mail for documentation ask, duty, and/or responsibility.
  • You will assistin the development, oversight, or provision of activities for clients in care as approved by your supervisor for safety and licensure compliance. Seek assistance or advice from your supervisor immediately if you have any doubts or questions before performing an assigned task, duty, and/or responsibility.
  • You will maintain confidentiality and continue on-going training compliance in accordance with state regulations and both Catholic Charities and St. Michaels Home for Children requirements. Attend all mandatory meetings and required trainings as needed to maintain full agency, funder, and licensure compliance. Assist in the distribution of information to other staff regarding trainings, meetings, etc., duty, and/or responsibility.
  • You will perform duties of floater consisting of supporting shift leader throughout the shift. Floater duties include but are not limited to completing shift paperwork, relieving coworkers from the floor, assisting in transportation of clients, administering medication, provide ratio coverage and constant supervision, assist with new intakes, assist with clothing distribution, and all other shift leader assigned duties.
  • You will perform other duties as required, such as participating in staff retreats, United Way tours, agency and community fairs and speaking engagements, assisting with special organizational projects/events, to promote agency programs.
