Staff Accountant~ NGO Washington, D.C. area $80k

My client is an international mission-based nonprofit located in the Washington, D.C. area with a newly created role for a Staff Accountant. The Staff Accountant will report to the Controller, CPA and be responsible for accounts receivables, posting payments, preparing cash receipts, cash applications, and reporting. The Staff Accountant will provide support covering the following main duties:

  • Analyze and reconcile bank statements as well as balance sheet accounts (cash, investments, receivables, payables, and other subledgers) per close schedule.
  • Review and schedule revenue entries captured in CRM software (Salesforce) to ensure correct transfer of financial data into accounting software.
  • Act as backup for accounts payable processing including:
  • Creating/reviewing/approving new vendors
  • Updating vendor banking information as needed
  • Verifying expenditures have proper support and are coded properly
  • Approving payment requests
  • Prepare weekly cash reporting for the executive team.
  • Research, analyze, prepare, and communicate reports on the cash application process and internal controls and provide action plan for follow up
  • Respond to customers’ inquiries regarding client invoices
  • Assist Controller and Director of Finance as needed

REQUIREMENTS:

2+ year experience in a similar accounting role
BS/BA degree in accounting, business, finance, or similar field of study
Experience in MS Excel
Salesforce or NetSuite is a preferred
