Description:

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Staff Accountant in the Hyannis, Massachusetts, area. This role involves various accounting tasks, with a focus on maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and providing support to our finance team. The selected individual will be expected to handle responsibilities related to general ledger, month-end close, bank reconciliations, and other essential accounting duties.

Responsibilities:

  • Post daily cash transactions and assist in monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare month-end accruals and appropriate journal entries.
  • Carry out monthly reconciliations of assigned General Ledger (GL) accounts, recommending adjustments as necessary.
  • Assist in the accounting of grant-related activities, including grant program billing and payments.
  • Monitor progress of grant spending and related drawdowns compared to the overall budget schedule.
  • Maintain payroll allocations and the maintenance of the grant master schedule of Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) allocations by department and by grant.
  • Provide backup assistance for the preparation of bi-weekly payroll and verify accuracy prior to approval.
  • Support the Accounts Payable function by reviewing and approving entries and recommending weekly check run payments.
  • Prepare year-end audit work papers and reconciliations as required.
  • Perform other tasks and duties as required to improve the financial and overall operations.
  • Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
  • Demonstrated experience in Bank Reconciliations
  • Solid understanding of General Ledger and Journal Entries
  • Proven ability to perform Month End Close operations
  • Familiarity with NetSuite and Oracle software
  • Experience with QuickBooks and SAP software
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred
  • CPA certification is a plus but not mandatory.
