Description:

We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Staff Accountant in the Savings & Loan banking industry, located in Sugar Land, Texas. As a Staff Accountant, you will be expected to manage a variety of tasks related to asset and liability reconciliations, journal entries, and bank reconciliations. You will also be responsible for posting to the General Ledger and maintaining proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct asset and liability reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare and post journal entries to maintain up-to-date financial records.
  • Handle bank reconciliations to verify the bank’s records match the company’s.
  • Post transactions to the General Ledger to maintain accurate accounting records.
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel for various accounting tasks and report preparation.
  • Monitor and close month-end accounts to ensure accurate financial data.
  • Assist in the switch to new accounting software, providing input and learning the system quickly.
  • Possesses a minimum of 3 years of experience in a Staff Accountant role or similar position
  • Holds a solid understanding of Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger, Journal Entries, and Month End Close
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Excel for accounting tasks
  • Has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all work
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of current financial regulations and standards
  • Experience with financial software and systems would be advantageous
  • Possesses professional ethics and integrity
  • CPA certification is desirable but not mandatory.
