Description:
We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team in the non-profit sector, based in New York, New York. You will be responsible for a variety of accounting tasks, focusing on journal entries, bank reconciliations, and inter-company reconciliations. This position offers a short term contract employment opportunity.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy in financial records.
- Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring all business transactions are recorded.
- Handle accounts payable duties, ensuring all company bills are paid on time.
- Perform month-end close procedures, including the preparation of financial statements.
- Use Oracle and Microsoft Excel to track and analyze financial data.
- Manage inter-company billing processes to ensure timely and accurate invoicing.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports.
- Ensure all financial operations comply with federal and state laws.
- Play a key role in the audit process by providing necessary information and preparing requested documentations.
- Continuously improve knowledge and skills in the accounting field, staying updated on new laws and regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Proven experience as a Staff Accountant or similar role within a Non-Profit organization
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Oracle
- Solid understanding of General Ledger and Journal Entries
- Experience with Bank Reconciliations
- Proficient in handling Accounts Payable (AP)
- Familiarity with Month End Close process
- Ability to prepare Financial Statements
- Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail
- Strong ethical standards and high levels of integrity
- Ability to communicate complex data clearly
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Understanding of data privacy standards.
