Staff Accountant

Our client is looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team in Jersey City, New Jersey. In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of accounting tasks, including processing accounts payable and receivable, performing bank reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, and preparing journal entries. You will also play a crucial role in the month-end close process and will be expected to be proficient in several accounting software applications. There is some flexibility to work from home 1 day a week or when needed. Growth potential here! Solid benefits. Ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of staff accountant experience.

• Execute the processing and recording of accounts payable transactions and ensure that all invoices and staff reimbursements are paid accurately and in accordance with finance policies and procedures
• Manage the processing of cash receipts, recording of revenue and receivables and work closely with the service team to ensure that revenues are recorded accurately and billed timely
• Conduct regular ledger activities to ensure accuracy and consistency of entries
• Handle bank reconciliations regularly and rectify discrepancies promptly
• Maintain the general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling entries
• Compile and analyze financial information to prepare journal entries and document business transactions
• Assist in the month-end closing activities to ensure timely closure of accounting books
• Utilize accounting software platforms such as NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP to streamline accounting processes and procedures
• Prepare and recommend policies and procedures that guide the selection, development, implementation and use of IT within the company.
• Must possess a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Proven experience as a Staff Accountant or similar role.
• In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Hands-on experience with accounting software like NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP.
• Advanced knowledge of MS Excel (creating spreadsheets and using financial functions).
• Familiarity with financial accounting statements.
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
• Proficient in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) management.
• Experience in performing bank reconciliations.
• Ability to prepare and record journal entries.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must be eligible to work in the country of employment.
• Willingness to uphold company standards, policies, and procedures.
• Proven ability to meet deadlines.
