Description:
We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team in Irvine, California. This role involves a variety of accounting tasks in the Real Estate Investment and Property Management industry.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately process and input data provided by Property Managers
- Review leases and related accounting lease abstract forms, ensuring accuracy
- Handle security deposit receipts, forfeits, applications, and refunds processing
- Review and approve vendor invoices for property number, coding, description and approvals on a weekly basis
- Prepare bank reconciliations to ensure accurate financial records
- Process monthly payments such as mortgage or other recurring payments timely to avoid penalties
- Ensure timely and accurate payment of property taxes
- Review rent rolls and make adjustments as necessary
- Generate, review and reconcile various reports to ensure accuracy of rent rolls and general ledgers
- Prepare financial statements – cash or accrual, and ensure timely monthly financial statements
- Prepare and enter journal entries – standard, recurring, reversing, adjusting, accruals, etc.
- Maintain cash balances as directed by the controller
- Prepare and compile cash flows reconciling to current cash balance
- Calculate distributions to Partners and contributions due from Partners
- Prepare check requests for owner distributions/contributions as needed
- Assist in the review, analysis and collection of Accounts Receivable
- Prepare year-end tax packages and annual property budgets
- Train staff on accounting skills and may be assigned special projects as needed.
- Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) management
- Experience with Bank Reconciliations
- Knowledge of General Ledger management
- Ability to handle Journal Entries
- Familiarity with Month End Close processes
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field is preferred
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
