Description:
THE OPPORTUNITY:
We are looking for an experienced and well-motivated bioinformatician, interested in bringing their computational expertise to cutting edge, biomedical sequencing projects.
This is an opportunity to play critical roles in a variety of collaborative sequence analysis efforts in large cancer cohort projects. You will join an experienced and well-resourced group within an extended community of computational biologists at IGC, and work with multidisciplinary teams involving clinicians and experimentalists active in cancer research. The position is for 2 years initially, with likely extension beyond this point.
This post is full-time (35 hours per week), however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns. We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.
The salary for this post is £40,247 - £47,874 per annum.
YOUR SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES FOR SUCCESS:
- PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Statistics, Computer Science or a closely related discipline (or near completion)
- Research experience in computational biology, particularly projects generating novel insights into medical genomics or cancer.
- Published experience in the analysis of high throughput biological datasets.
- Programming experience in Linux/UNIX environments.
- Strong analytical and statistical skills in R.
