Cloudera is looking for an experienced content developer who can create high-quality documentation, and contribute to the content within the product interface. The content you create is a key part of the user experience and enables our customers’ success with Cloudera products and services. If you enjoy solving the puzzle of how to present complex, technical information, in a comprehensive, well organized, and easy to understand format, then this is the job and company for you.

You will…

  • Lead and plan the technical documentation strategy for a group of products and/or platform components
  • Drive content development and technical documentation initiatives of your designated team
  • Write a variety of technical documents for Cloudera products and services, including installation guides, user guides, system administrator guides, how-to articles, tutorials, demo videos, and best practices
  • Multi-task and take on ad-hoc requests to handle documentation changes at short notice
  • Partner with Product Designers to contribute directly to the textual content contained within the product user interface, ensuring workflows and concepts are clear and easy to understand
  • Create videos to assist end-users with their use of Cloudera products and components
  • Partner with the internal tools team, product management, engineering team, and engineering program management to ensure your technical content is validated and published to

You have…

  • Proficiency in written English
  • Excellent writing and editing skills. You must have 4 or more years of experience writing installation guides, user guides, system administrator guides, or run books for technical audiences such as database administrators, system administrators, or data cluster operators
  • Experience using an XML/DITA authoring tool such as Oxygen XML for writing documentation
  • Experience using GitHub
  • Knowledge of typical IT or data cluster job tasks, or, better yet, experience doing them
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, along with the ability to adapt to various methods of obtaining information from subject matter experts
  • Ability to be flexible and to adapt to changing responsibilities, situations, tools, and requirements
  • Ability to learn new technical subject matter quickly
  • Ability to work as a self-starter who can work in a fast-paced and collaborative work environment with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work across time zones with globally distributed teams

You might also have…

  • Experience documenting Cloud products
  • Experience with Python
  • Experience writing developer guides and sample applications.
  • Experience documenting management applications such as Oracle Enterprise Manager, MySQL Enterprise Monitor, or VMWare vCenter.
  • Experience documenting SQL products
  • Experience documenting security for enterprise-level software
  • Experience using Linux (Red Hat Enterprise, Ubuntu, or SUSE)
  • Experience documenting or using open source products.
