Proofpoint hiring a Staff Data Scientist, to lead multiple data science initiatives. The person will be responsible for guiding and leading the team of data scientists, working closely with cross functional teams such as devops and data pipeline engineers, as well as to drive the development of data driven solution for the company. The successful candidate should have strong background in data science, machine learning, advanced analytics and scalable ML cloud systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of machine learning models and advanced analytics solutions to solve complex business problems.
  • Lead Design experiments and use statistical analysis to measure the impact of various business strategies.
  • Oversee the deployment of machine learning models in production environments, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability.
  • Lead the development of model performance monitoring and refine algorithms based on business outcomes and changing data patterns.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results

Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in data science, machine learning, and AI.

  • Drive innovation by applying new methods, tools, and frameworks to improve existing processes and solutions.
  • Promote a data-driven culture within the organization and advocate for the effective use of data across all business functions.
  • Ensure data quality and compliance with privacy regulations and ethical guidelines.
  • Develop and enforce best practices in data preprocessing, feature engineering, model validation, and interpretation.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in data science, with at least 3 years in a technical leadership or management roles.
  • Proven track record of delivering successful machine learning models and advanced analytics solutions in production.
  • Experience with leading data science teams, mentoring junior data scientists, and managing projects.
  • Experience in cybersecurity domain

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and SQL.
  • Strong knowledge of machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
  • Solid understanding of statistical methods, experimental design, and A/B testing.
  • Experience with LLM, MLOps concepts

Soft Skills:
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. - Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. - Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
