For our subsidiary Carrier Innovation Technologies, we are looking for a Staff Engineer (m/f/d) Energy Systems in the Kriens/Luzern region on a permanent basis and as soon as possible.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in a science or engineering field (e.g., mechanical engineering, energy engineering).
- Experience in deterministic energy systems modeling and optimization (both design and operation).
- Experience in systems integration, particularly the integration of energy storage into larger systems.
- Technical knowledge of HVAC technologies and building systems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Two years of industry experience or a PhD in a related field.
- Experience in the HVAC industry, specifically in data center cooling and residential heating and cooling.
- Experience with energy storage technologies and management.
- Knowledge of European utility networks, electricity markets, and virtual power plants (VPP).
- Experience in machine learning and data-driven methods.
- Working knowledge of energy systems operational optimization under uncertainty, such as stochastic optimization.
- Ability to interpret results from energy system modeling, in terms of their significance, generalizability, and limitations.
- Experience in surrogate modeling of energy conversion technologies.
- Ability to quickly understand and adapt to new technologies and processes.
- Team oriented personality, capability to work well in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams.
Responsibilities:
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyze and simulate multi-energy systems, including data centers, buildings, and district heating and cooling networks, when connected to electrical /thermal equipment and networks.
- Identify and address technology gaps as they relate to HVAC integrated with energy and utility systems.
- Collaborate closely with universities and research institutions in the areas of integrated buildings, HVAC and energy systems.
