Band 5 Staff Nurse: RNLD / RNC / RMN - a great opportunity for a newly qualified nurse
There is a vacancy for a Band 5 staff nurse at Lyndon House. Lyndon House provides overnight respite for children with learning disability, complex behaviours and / or complex health needs. We are looking for a RNLD / RMN / RNC to join our team; experience supporting children with learning disabilities in a healthcare setting would be beneficial but not essential and we expect the successful candidate to provide high quality child-centred care. You will be required to work shifts including: long day / night/ early/ late / weekend / bank holiday (we are open 24/7).
Please apply if you are enthusiastic, innovative and a forward-thinking nurse who can assist the team in all aspects of assessing, planning and implementing the delivery and review of a child’s care. Additionally you must be able to develop and maintain professional relationships with parents, carers, and members of the multi-disciplinary team. You must be flexible and adaptable in your approach to meet the needs of the developing service. Good communication, leadership and organisational skills are essential.

Responsibilities:

leading shifts
a specific caseload (named nurse responsibilities)
the assessment and treatment planning for individual children in conjunction with other healthcare professionals
the formulation and implementation of care plans and risk assessments in conjunction with parents/carers
the operational admission and discharge of individual children
ensuring staff under their supervision are competent and have access to individual care plans
ensuring medicines are administered appropriately and timely and adhere to CWPT’s and service specific policies (including controlled medications, PRN, rectal, buccal and injections)
ensure all recording is accurate and timely
ensure reports are made available for reviews and meetings as required
liaising with parents/carers and other professionals
performing and training of clinical procedures: PEG/ NG feeding, oxygen and suction therapy, SATS, heart rate monitoring
identifying own learning needs
ensuring your practice and that of others is in accordance with the NMC guidance, CQC standards and CWPT trust policies
infection control, health and safety and fire regulations and procedures to be adhered to
occasionally working at an alternative location within the Partnership Trust to meet the needs of the service
attending and minuting meetings as required.
