We are looking for highly motivated nurses interested in working in our busy and challenging Critical Care environment.
Our critical care department not only has 33 commissioned critical care beds for both level 2 and 3 patients we have also been able to create an exciting 5 bed enhanced surgical recovery unit This enhanced surgical recovery area cares for level 1.5 elective-post operative patient. Our dedicated critical care team is also responsible for:
Caring for critically ill patients in the hospital
Caring for patients after major operations
Providing first responder support to all unstable patients in the hospital.
Providing support to all patients with serious medical illness and instability.
The royal site is also the regional specialist centre for infectious diseases, acute pancreatitis, hepatobiliary surgery, upper gastrointestinal surgery, and thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP- a rare blood disease. Critical care also provides a critical care outreach service, follow up clinics, psychological support for patients, relatives, and staff. We have a research team within critical care based on the unit. We have a dedicated practice educator team, who provide extra support and training and there our variety of opportunities for CPD course including the critical care course and a variety of development opportunities for all staff.
The postholder will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team under the supervision of the nurse with continuing responsibility of the unit. Key responsibilities will include the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.
The postholder will always work within the NMC’s Code of Professional Conduct.
