Description:
The role of the Staff Research Associate (SRA 2) is to perform basic laboratory management duties, support the work of postdoctoral fellows and graduate students, and carry out independent research in the Beleford laboratory. The SRA II should have excellent communication skills and be capable of working with a large number of scientists.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- ordering of laboratory supplies
- maintaining and restocking all lab reagents
- maintaining all lab inventories
- maintaining the lab budget (in collaboration with the PI)
- training new personnel
In addition, the SRA 2 is required to perform a wide range of specialist techniques including DNA cloning and purification, cell transfection, cell culture, DNA and protein electrophoresis, mouse tissue/organ dissections, immunostaining, qRT-PCR, immunoprecipitation, and confocal microscopy. These specialized research techniques are required to support projects examining biochemical interactions and intracellular signaling regulating vascular development and vascular malformations in human disease.

Minimum Qualifications: For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload a license, certification, and/or educational degree if required for the position.
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, genetics, or related field
- Experience with cultures of mammalian cells
- Experience with mouse colonies
- Experience using a wide variety of laboratory equipment
- Experience managing regulatory procedures and protocols for laboratory safety, chemical inventories, biohazards, and animal use training
- Basic molecular biology techniques such as restriction digestion, PCR, DNA, and protein electrophoresis
- Skilled in maintaining and recording experimental data
- Able to prioritize work assignments to meet deadlines
- Productive working independently and/or with minimal supervision
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree or PhD with bench research experience
- Bench research experience
