The Crump Institute for Molecular Imaging is seeking a highly skilled Staff Research Associate 2 to join our dynamic research team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the development of preclinical disease models in the fields of oncology and fibrosis. This position requires exceptional in vivo skills, including expertise in the development and implementation of various disease models such as xenografts, orthotopic models, PDX models, bleomycin-induced fibrosis, and bile duct ligation models. In this role, you will also be responsible for dose administration of therapeutics and radioactive molecules, as well as tissue collection for downstream assessments. Responsibilities will also include developing and optimizing preclinical models of disease in oncology and fibrosis, including xenografts, orthotopic models, PDX models, bleomycin-induced fibrosis, and bile duct ligation models, collecting tissues for assessment, collaborating with the imaging center to execute preclinical imaging studies using PET/SPECT/CT/Optical modalities, and assisting with other research activities as needed.
Target hourly rate: $28.88-$46.46
Qualifications

Required:

  • Basic understanding of biology, animal physiology, cancer biology, and/or molecular imaging research. Skilled with various preclinical models of disease
  • Subcutaneous xenograft/Orthotopic tumors
  • Patient-Derived xenografts
  • Adoptive cell transfer models
  • Bleomycin-induced lung fibrosis
  • Bile-duct ligation/CCl4 liver fibrosis
  • Organized and detail-oriented; maintains up-to-date, accurate and organized schedules and records on a timely basis.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of faculty, staff, postdocs, and students about basic imaging theory, techniques and protocols.
  • Experienced in working with small animals such as mice and rats
  • Handling,Injections, general physiology and maintenance, dissections
  • Advanced surgical skills highly desirable
  • Ability to learn pre-clinical imaging systems. Ability to use and/or learn imaging software for data analysis
  • Ability to work independently and troubleshoot scheduling conflicts, etc.
  • Skilled at writing reports and working with spreadsheets, databases, and email.
  • Ability to follow directions and to both work independently and to work well with a team when needed.

Preferred:

  • Experience handling radioactive samples and knowledge of Radiation Safety requirements. Ability to learn ex vivo assays including autoradiography
