Description
The Department of Medicine is seeking to hire a highly motivated Staff Research Associate II to work under the direction of the Principal Investigator. The primary duties include performing fundamental laboratory techniques, anaerobic microbial cultures, and maintaining lab equipment and protocols. Additionally, the SRA II will be responsible for freeze-drying probiotic mixtures for packaging. The role may also involve high-throughput DNA/RNA sequencing and continued anaerobic microbial culture work. This position requires collaboration with other lab members and coordination with various research groups across UCLA Health.
Hourly range: $28.88-$46.46
Qualifications

Required:

  • Ability to use a personal computer and basic computer applications.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to organize and present results in an appropriate format.
  • Ability to maintain complete and accurate records.
  • Able to understand scientific protocols.
  • Ability to work independently after training.
  • Ability to work in an aseptic environment.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Ability to reliably pipette hundreds of samples with no errors.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work schedule.

Preferred:

  • Educational background in Biological Sciences, BA or equivalent.
