For the support of our team in Regensburg we are seeking a Staff Scientist in Bioinformatics to lead and collaborate on advanced R&D projects in bioinformatics and IT. Join our team to help develop innovative solutions in biosciences.

The Staff Scientist in Bioinformatics will focus on planning, executing, and evaluating complex R&D projects, particularly in synthetic biology. This role involves leading software initiatives and collaborating with various stakeholders to address significant challenges and deliver pioneering solutions.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in computer science, bioinformatics, or a related field; PhD or at least 6 years of professional experience in the relevant field.
  • Solid understanding of bioinformatics concepts, algorithms, and data structures.
  • Experience with bioinformatics tools and databases (e.g., BLAST, Genome Browsers, NCBI databases).
  • Familiarity with data analysis techniques and statistical methods.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented software development (e.g., .Net, Java), frameworks, and tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading technical aspects of bioinformatics and software projects within R&D, from requirements analysis to deployment.
  • Providing bioinformatics expertise and insights to multidisciplinary teams.
  • Collaborating with product management, domain specialists, and developers to define technical roadmaps and prioritize feature development.
  • Mentoring junior team members to foster skill development and ensure high-quality work.
  • Staying updated with the latest advancements in bioinformatics and integrating these into software development projects.
  • Working with diverse teams to integrate bioinformatics knowledge into software solutions seamlessly.
