Description:
HYBRID TELEWORK OPPORTUNITY.
The Staff Services Manager II (Supervisory) serves as Chief of the Business Services Section (BSS) for the Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI) and is responsible for management of a variety of support operations with statewide implications. The major services provided by the section include procurement, contracts, and grants administration.
Through subordinate managers and staff, the BSS Chief provides overarching operational support and develops policies and procedures to ensure compliance with best practices. The incumbent is expected to maintain effective working relationships with staff and managers at all levels within HCAI, as well as with control entities (such as the Department of General Services, State Controller’s Office, Department of Finance, and Fl$Cal), and contractors. This is a highly visible and sensitive position where the risk of error is significant and can result in property damage, liability, and litigation. The incumbent functions with a high degree of independence and demonstrates strong leadership and management skill with an exceptional capacity to problem-solve, identify innovative solutions, provide clear strategic direction, use good judgment, and effectively manage workload; issue timely and comprehensive probationary reports and performance evaluations, utilize the corrective intervention process to promptly address staff work performance and behavioral issues, produce counselling memoranda, and prepare requests for adverse action.

Working Conditions
HCAI offers a hybrid telework schedule with a combination of remote and in-office work schedules for CA residents only. The telework policy is subject to change, and additional in-office days may be required and/or minimal notification may be given to report to the worksite if an urgent need arises.
