Job Summary
A Brief Overview
Continuing Teacher Education (CTE) at Queen’s Faculty of Education is a leader in the delivery of blended and online professional development courses for teachers. We are looking to hire a motivated individual who will use their skills and expertise to help us continue to create and deliver a high caliber learning experience for our learners. Continuing Teacher Education offers eight sessions per year, contracts over 400 instructors and serves over 10,000 candidates per year. We take a collaborative approach to everything we do as evidenced by our close work with the Queen’s School of English and Professional Studies. All members of our team may lend their assistance and expertise to this department as needed.
Reporting to the Manager of Operations, Continuing Teacher Education(CTE) , the Staffing Coordinator takes a leadership role in the administration of staffing processes for casual employees and independent contractors. This includes providing leadership and direction with the coordination of independent contractor hiring processes (renewals, new hires, and terminations), ensuring that all matters are followed through to completion in compliance with employment related legislation, university policy, and other regulating bodies in relation to the type of hire.
Committed to equity, diversity and inclusion, the Staffing Coordinator will provide sound advice to the department, tracking and managing different employee group files, creating and implementing appointment templates, guides, and tools, documenting procedures, and facilitating training sessions. The Staffing Coordinator will be a member of the department’s hiring committee for internal and external employees. The Staffing Coordinator is a key contact and liaison for departmental administrators as they engage in external contractor recruitment efforts and prepare external contracts. The incumbent must function with an exceptional level of professionalism, judgment, and attention to detail, when making decisions in a multifaceted environment.
The incumbent is responsible for advising on and taking an active role in the creation, development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and services related to leadership, inclusion, involvement, and community-engaged learning, as well as programs and opportunities to support student and staff learning and development in areas of critical thinking, self-awareness, engagement, and health and wellness.
This position acts as a resource for department-specific faculty agreements and liaises with external agencies, serving as a contact for questions, comments or concerns regarding these agreements. This position also coordinates the faculty appointment process, including initial appointments, reappointments, promotions, cross-appointments, and appointments for community preceptors. This position addresses faculty development needs and the oversees the complex scheduling of faculty orientation.

Oversees departmental locum recruitment, scheduling, orientation and tracking.

Validates claim information relating to additional academic work and updates submissions based on the committee’s feedback.

Performs administrative support, such as preparing confidential correspondence, scheduling meetings, travel accommodations, and faculty orientation tours.

- Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit.

Required Education

  • Four-Year Bachelor Degree or equivalent.
  • in education preferred.

Required Experience

  • More than 3 years and up to and including 5 years of experience.
  • Experience in contract management including one or a combination of drafting, negotiating, executing, and/or amending contracts is considered an asset.
  • Experience working at a post-secondary education institution considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, policies, standards and/or guidelines considered an asset.

Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.
