Description:

The Standards Analyst is an important member of our international team, driving global change in the Container Shipping Industry through the creation and adoption of digital standards. Reporting to the Head of Standards, and supporting our Standards Owners and Delivery Managers, but with independent responsibility, you will analyze existing systems, data and processes across the wider container shipping ecosystem. Responsible for documenting the discovery, design, development and change plans across the digital messaging landscape for new and existing standards. You will develop concepts, solicit and process feedback with a wide variety of stakeholders and subject matter experts (SME’s) and contribute towards the individual Standards strategy, implementation and adoption lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:

Support the Standards development lifecycle:

  • Workshop Orchestration: Prepare, conduct, and document meetings and workshops with stakeholders and SMEs.
  • Data Structure & Analysis: Analyze and map data structures to support standardization efforts and provide actionable insights.
  • Concept Development: Develop and align concepts with industry best practices and stakeholder needs.
  • Discovery Process Management: Support the Standards Owners and Delivery Managers by evaluating business processes, define and agree requirements, gather insights for improvement, and manage discovery processes, including collaboration with third parties.
  • Business Case Development: contribute to the creation of concise business and value cases that drive organizational strategy and growth.
  • Reporting: Provide analytical contribution to external industry and internal departmental reporting on standards lifecycle progress, outcomes and hypotheses.

Stakeholder Management & Relationship Building:

  • Guide Stakeholders: Work closely with stakeholders to guide them toward accepted solutions, ensuring alignment with industry standards and interoperability.
  • Relationship Management: Support the Standards Owners and Delivery Managers to create and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, interacting with SMEs across container carriers and the wider industry ecosystem.
  • Clear Communication: Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to contribute to complex multi-stakeholder communications and presentations on data, process and business case topics.

Industry Expertise:

  • Stay Updated: Maintain effective continuous personal development approach to ensure awareness of relevant data, process, technology and regulatory change to existing and new areas for standards development.
  • Ecosystem Knowledge: Leverage familiarity of the industry ecosystem to enable effective analysis and interpretation of data and processes to inform the standards development lifecycle.
  • Standards Documentation: Define, create, and manage standards documentation, such as IFS/ Data Mapping and understand API Specifications/ Information Models and other relevant frameworks. Familiarity with BPMN, UML, ArchiMate and OpenAPI languages currently used.

Project Management & Technical Awareness:

  • Tooling Proficiency: Utilize project management tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, planning tools) to manage and track project tasks and deliverables.
  • Standard Development Lifecycle: Familiarity with technology products and software development life cycle methodologies.
  • Scrum & Delivery Methodologies: Participate in Scrum and other delivery methodologies to ensure timely and efficient project outcomes.
  • Technical Awareness: Maintain a technical understanding to bridge the gap between business needs and IT solutions.

Additional Capabilities:

  • Public Speaking: Engage in public speaking opportunities to represent the organization at industry events and conferences.
  • Process Improvement & Change Management: Contribute to process improvement and change management initiatives to enhance organizational efficiency.
  • Go to Market (GTM) plans: Support the Standards Owners with the go to market planning for their Standards, working with marketing and partnership functions to align standards adoption outcomes with business objectives.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Professional Business, data and/or process analysis qualification, such as BPM or IIBA certification.
  • Relevant experience in Container Shipping operations and processes, or related industries (e.g., Airport/Airlines (IATA), World Trade Organization (WTO), International Maritime Organization (IMO) or other Logistics related body).
  • Experience in developing standards documentation (e.g., IFS/API Specifications/ Data Mapping).
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in a consulting firm or in an internal ‘corporate’ consulting role, preferably with a focus on driving standardization in IT development, processes, and frameworks in the transport & logistics sector.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to map and analyze complex data structures.
  • Effective stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in project management tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
  • Technical awareness of Microservice architecture, and the ability to work closely with IT teams.
  • Public speaking, process improvement, and GTM experience are a plus.
