Description:
SUMMARY:
ECODIT is seeking a Start-Up Specialist to assist with all activities associated with project registration, office set-up, banking set up and other up activities as deemed necessary. Under the technical direction of the Home Office Project Manager, the Start-Up Specialist will be responsible for supporting ECODIT’s Home Office and Field Office team with administrative and financial start up activities. She/he will lead or support: i) project registration, ii) banking set up, iii) field personnel set up, iv) housing (office and personnel), v) transportation, and vi) travel and communications logistics.
The Start-Up Specialist’s specific responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Identifying a legal firm to provide advice with respect to registration, human resource management, taxes, benefits and any other area where legal advice may be required
- Identifying selecting a bank to house project accounts, reviewing different options, ensuring the bank is sufficiently experienced and can manage the account transactions and reporting requirements required by the client, ECODIT and local officials
- Identifying personnel and/or Professional Employment Organization (PEO) to assist with employment of field office staff as needed
- Coordinating the mobilization of staff, onboarding and orientation
- Identifying suitable office space and/or expatriate housing
- Negotiating leases and securing rental agreements
- Obtaining visas, hotel reservations for expatriates and/or visiting ECODIT personnel
- Securing vehicle rentals and/or assisting with identifying and negotiating contract with a vehicle hire firm
- Providing logistical support for meetings with local partners and USAID
- Identifying and selecting security firm as needed
- Obtaining and reviewing quotes for all services listed above
- Serving as liaison between ECODIT Home Office and all local administration, travel, finance agencies or firms as needed
- Participating in meetings and discussions with ECODIT staff to discuss administrative issues, progress, and to plan upcoming activities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in international development, conservation biology or similar science, public policy, economics, water, engineering, or another related field;
- 5 + years of previous relevant work experience in international development preferred;
- 5+ years of experience implementing USAID start ups
- Excellent research and analytical abilities and quantitative skills;
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English;
- Fluency in at least one relevant language other than English is a plus;
- High levels of organization and attention to detail;
- Self-starter with sound judgment, motivation, and initiative;
- Ability to multitask and to work independently in a flexible small-business environment;
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint;
- Willingness to work with colleagues and clients across time zones around the world, and travel internationally when needed
