Do you enjoy conducting analyses and collecting and processing data? Are you detail oriented with an ability to assess and identify trends? If so, join the Mineral Sector Analysis and Promotions Unit where you will provide a comprehensive and statistical description of Ontario’s mining sector.

ANALYTICAL, RESEARCH, PROBLEM-SOLVING AND REASONING SKILLS

  • You can carry out analyses of data to identify correlations, variations and trends
  • You can identify data and systems needs and recommend data collection options
  • You can apply complex concepts and techniques in statistical analysis
  • You can analyze information and determine how data requirements can be met through data retrieval
  • You can use your problem-solving and reasoning skills to perform risk assessments regarding the viability and integrity of the database

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • You have proven ability with computers such as word-processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, internet based database software
  • You can identify systems needs for data collection and data processing
  • You can develop and maintain databases

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

  • You have well developed communication skills to advise, interpret and present information
  • You can discuss technical information to both technical and non-technical staff
  • You have proven written communication skills and can develop reports of a technical/analytical nature
  • You have an ability to encourage cooperation from others to assist with data gathering initiatives

Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

  • Research, gather and analyze data
  • Present findings in analytical summaries
  • Monitor the mining and exploration industries and interpret trends
  • Maintain, update and modify software including statistical databases
  • Design data collection formats
  • Identify systems needs and provide specifications for systems development
  • Present information on the exploration and mining industries
