EDUCATION

A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination* of education, training and/or experience.

  • Acceptable Combination:

A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma (currently the General Intelligence Test 320 GIT-320)
OR
Successful completion of two years of secondary school AND one year of experience providing administrative support or performing clerical functions*
*
Clerical functions may include, but not limited to: data entry, filing, answering inquiries, preparing written correspondence, receptionist duties.
Experience can be gained through work, school, cultural and life experiences, or community/volunteer work.
Degree equivalency

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

EXP1. Experience in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint

EXP2. Experience in providing service to clients*

  • Clients may include: management, employees, citizens, or other stakeholders

EXP3. Experience in delivering administrative support services* or academic experience gained through an Office Administration program from a recognized post-secondary institution
*
Administrative support services are defined as, but not limited to: managing agendas, scheduling and organizing meetings/teleconferences, preparing background materials, procuring office equipment and supplies, maintaining a filing system, and other related duties

ABILITIES

Responsibilities:

Administrative Assistant

  • Organizes and maintains the senior manager’s agenda, and appointments, coordinates logistics for meetings and travel and gathers and compiles background documents for meetings.
  • Assists or prepares and tracks documents related to human resources, financial and administrative processes.
  • Provides administrative and coordination support services in all areas pertaining to the operations of the organization including data input, making travel arrangements, processing forms and claims, drafting and preparing minutes, ordering supplies and coordinating Access to Information requests, Privacy requests and Parliamentary Questions requests for the organization.

Compensation Administration

  • Determine employee compensation entitlements.
  • Analyse, prepare and process compensation transaction requests.
