About Stegra
Founded in 2020, Stegra (formerly H2 Green Steel) was created with the purpose to decarbonize hard-to-abate industries. Construction of our first project – an integrated plant producing green hydrogen, green iron, and green steel – is well underway in Boden, Sweden. Slashing emissions using green hydrogen and renewable electricity, we’re starting a clean industrial revolution. Steel is just the beginning.
We are building a diverse and rapidly growing team spread across our site and offices in Boden and Stockholm, targeting close to 1500 employees by the end of 2025. Together, we focus on delivering green impact – for our people, customers, investors, society, and planet.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Perform preventive and corrective mechanical maintenance on our production lines.
  • Collaborate with operators, technicians, and other production personnel to identify and communicate improvements.
  • Install, maintain, and repair mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.
  • Read and update technical documentation as needed.
  • Inspect components to detect wear, vibrations, or inadequate lubrication.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electromechanical components.
  • Repair and replace equipment.
  • Contribute to the optimization of maintenance programs and continuous improvement.
  • Train others in specific maintenance tasks.
  • Evaluate the need for spare parts for the equipment.
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards and a safe work environment together with the team.
  • Ensure safe working conditions with Lock Out, Tag Out procedures during repairs and inspections.
    Specific Key Accountabilities:

Caster:

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on continuous caster equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment specific to casting processes.
  • Collaborate closely with production operators to improve casting efficiency.

Meltshop:

  • Conduct maintenance on Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) and other meltshop equipment.
  • Focus on troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems associated with melting processes.
  • Work with the team to optimize processes for steel production.

Hot Mill:

  • Maintain and repair rolling mill equipment.
  • Focus on mechanical maintenance of hot rolling processes and related equipment.
  • Collaborate with the rolling team to ensure optimal operation.

YOUR EXPERIENCE

  • Relevant education in mechanics or a similar field.
  • Experience from the steel production industry is highly sought.
  • Ability to operate under limited supervision for non-routine situations.
  • Advanced knowledge of operational processes and tools.
  • Good command of English; Swedish is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and accurately.
  • Ability to work on rotating shifts.
    Preferred Qualifications:

Caster:

  • Documented experience with continuous casting systems and familiarity with casting techniques.

Meltshop:

  • Previous experience in the steel melting industry, specifically with EAF or related technology.

Hot Mill:

  • Strong knowledge of hot rolling fundamentals and relevant operational processes.
  • Experience working with mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Documented qualifications in workplace environment and safety.
  • Ability to develop work methods and support the operations supervisor when needed.
