Description:
JOB SUMMARY
The STEM Outreach Specialist is responsible for supporting the outreach efforts of IEEE TryEngineering. IEEE TryEngineering, through its volunteers, is committed to providing high quality experiences and resources to volunteers and educators who work with school-aged children. The STEM Outreach Specialist will collaborate with the Sr. STEM Outreach manager to support onsite and virtual events for new and existing activities, including the TryEngineering Summer Institute, TryEngineering OnCampus, TryEngineering STEM Grant programs, SKPL, and other local outreach events. The position delivers high levels of support to staff, volunteers, and invited guests, and works closely with third party vendors to ensure successful delivery and operations onsite. The position will also provide other support for TryEngineering, including but not limited to, technical support of virtual events, managing requests for materials and support, management of contracting, and coordination with volunteers.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience Pref
WORK EXPERIENCE
- 4-7 years Required 5-7 years in program support services.
- 4-7 years Experience working with a non-profit association or society strongly preferred
- Experience working with international customers.
- Experience working with large and small companies, preferably in the technology space.

- Must be a technologically savvy knowledge worker who seeks out technology solutions to business challenges; Specifically, technology knowledge and experience needed to produce desired outcomes include: PC skills particularly with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Registration platforms, Virtual Event platforms.
- Flexible, team-oriented personality.
- Expected to travel up to 20-30% domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Program Support 50%
- Provides expert support for all event needs and fulfillment, communicating regularly via email and phone calls as needed.
- Coordinates all supplies associated with STEM Outreach events, including TryEngineering Summer Institute, TryEngineering On Campus, SKPL, and TryEngineering Technology for Teachers.
- Provides support for staff and volunteers involved in STEM Outreach events, including speakers for the TryEngineering Summer Institute and TryEngineering On Campus, and TryEngineering Technology for Teachers.
- Development and delivery of all communications including necessary technology, locations, schedules, deliveries, invitations, follow-up surveys and letters of appreciation.
- Manages third party vendors involved with outreach events, including camps and professional development sessions.
- May act onsite as the main point of contact to speakers, vendors and invited guests.
- Support Local Outreach Events 20%
- Collaborates with Sr. STEM Outreach Manager to determine additional STEM Outreach events to be supported by TryEngineering.
- Works with volunteers and staff to ensure on-site team is appropriately staffed, scheduled, trained, and informed.
- Support the work of the SKPL Committee
- Collaborate with Section Leaders on their STEM Outreach plans
- Build Program Awareness 15%
- Works directly with Educational Activities staff and volunteers to provide materials and support to build awareness of TryEngineering.
- Manages virtual online conference tools and provides internal support to users.
- Attend events as an exhibitor, as assigned by management.
- Administrative Tasks 15%
- Prepares guidance documents and manuals, which may include manuals, surveys and reports from events.
- Collaborates with all central departments including operations, marketing, programming, IT, production, and sales.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains all contracts, and ensures timely payment to all vendors.
- Review and confirm all supplies, including contracts and invoices.
- In collaboration with staff, manage and oversee other contractors including but not limited to freight forwarder, venue and catering contracts, and other contracts as needed.
- Assist additional Student & Academic programs as assigned by management.
- Other operational duties as assigned by management.
