Job Description
DRI’s Nevada Robotics Engineering Education Program is hiring part-time college student workers to assist with STEM education and outreach events. These positions - called ROCs (Robotics Outreach Crew) - are available in Reno, and Elko and may include tasks such as supporting teacher training workshops, robotics and drone competition support, STEM outreach events, Boys & Girls Club STEM classes (Elko), or other duties as assigned. These hourly student positions will help support the Robot – Drone –Book Lending Library program: setting up new robots and drones, delivery and pick up, shipping and receiving, building STEM kits, packing books for classrooms, etc.
Office hours are flexible during the week and event work hours include late afternoons, evenings, and Saturdays. ROCs may work on projects and at events that fit with their class schedules. Students will be expected to work an average of 5 hours per week and may work up to 20 hours per week. No robotics or drone experience is necessary. Nevada Robotics staff will provide training and support for new ROCs. Student workers will work on site at DRI offices and at various sites around the community.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Curious, life-long learners interested in STEM, robotics, and drone education
- Self-starters who want to support STEM education and Nevada’s teachers and families
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (including Teams and Outlook) and Google Suite programs
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with drones and or robotics education/ competitions
Physical Requirements: This position may need to occasionally perform physical tasks such as lifting objects of 20-60 lbs., stooping, bending, and kneeling and standing for long periods of time.
Conditions of Employment: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check. Reliable transportation is required.
