Business Development Analyst – Toronto Canada
Serco’s Training and Experience Program (STEP) is designed to provide undergraduate university and college students paid accredited internship opportunities to gain meaningful, hands-on work experience in a professional environment.
Our 2025 internship opportunities are available throughout the U.S. and Canada, beginning on May 27th and concluding on August 8th, with 1 week off June 30th-July 4th. You will work with your manager to identify the best working schedule for you, working no more than an average of 36 hours a week with the added perk of half-days on Fridays.
In addition to gaining hands-on experience, you will attend training sessions taught by skilled leaders in our company to better prepare you for a full-time career.

As the Business Development Intern, you will be responsible for driving business growth and shaping the company’s long-term strategic direction. You will work closely with the Director of Business Development for Defense and Space, along with the Director, Partnerships and Growth for Citizen Services to strategize, collaborate, and align business efforts.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy to drive new client acquisition.
  • Develop Target Account Growth and Penetration Strategies: Work with the sales team to grow business in targeted accounts via data analysis.
  • Identify and assess client interests, challenges, and needs; prepare and present appropriate proposals and contracts to close additional opportunities
  • Collaborate with our operations teams to ensure a smooth handoff of clients and effective delivery of services.
  • Strong focus on growing your assigned book of business and integrating new clients
  • Establish and schedule follow-up appointments, account reviews, and phone meetings with clients
  • Customer focused – enjoy working with people and helping solve problems
  • Participate in weekly Sales/Pipeline Review
  • Ensure that management is kept up to date with project status and all relevant information related to daily activities
  • Provide administrative support to the management team

Qualifications :

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or marketing.
  • Experience with constructing cold email campaigns, cold outreach, and developing sales plans to target and convert potential clients would be a plus.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing services (SEO, PPC, content marketing, social media, etc.) and how they address client needs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work initiative and attention to detail.
