Description:
DECONTAMINATION SERVICES SUPERVISOR (BAND 3)
We are currently recruiting for a highly motivated Healthcare Scientist Band 3 Decontamination Services Supervisor to join our small friendly team.
The successful applicant will be expected to work in the Sterile Services Department and the Endoscopy Decontamination Department and full training will be provided.
You will be expected to be able to follow clear working instructions to meet the standards required to deliver quality care for our patients.
You should be able to work as part of a team and be able to work under pressure in a constantly changing production environment.
Although not essential, it would be desirable for the successful applicant to have a clean driving licence and be prepared to undertake some driving duties to deliver items to our external customers.
Your daily duties will be on a rota basis and will include early and late shifts (between the hours of 0630 and 2200 hrs) and weekends (between 0900 and 1700 hrs).
Decontamination Services provide a vital service to all departments within the Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Community Hospitals as well as external customers.
The Sterile Services Department undertakes the washing, cleaning, preparation and sterilisation of reusable surgical instruments and the Endoscopy Decontamination Department undertakes the washing, cleaning and processing of flexible endoscopes.
The post holder will play a pivotal role in providing sterile reusable equipment for our patients. Whilst there is no direct contact with patients being part of this small friendly team supports patient safety within the organisation.

To act as Deputy to the Decontamination Services Manager when she/he are not on duty.
Supervising the work of all new and experienced staff in the area under the post holders control in accordance with the agreed operational and national policies, including the day-to-day supervision of the production areas of the department.
Resolving problems that may arise and referring any unresolved matters to the Manager.
Monitoring workflows in the production unit to ensure agreed turnarounds times are met, where possible.
Ensuring the highest of standards of service are provided and maintained using the appropriate Quality Control Tool as laid out in ISO Standards.
Exercising responsibility by assisting and delegation for the cleaning, preparation and care of instruments and equipment.
Adherence to the National and Trust Policies (i.e. Health and Safety, Infection Control, COSHH & Human Resources Policies) and specified department procedures (i.e. washing, packing and sterilising).
Maintaining and updating knowledge and skills in the full range of new procedures, instrumentation and Medical Devices.
Maintaining all requirements to meet full accreditation to ISO and MHRA standards.
To ensure that at all times confidential and personal information relating to staff, patients and the Trust is not disclosed within or outside the place of work, except in the proper discharge of duties
