STEWARD / DISHWASHER

Service quality lies at the core of Alyeska Resort’s values, and our Steward team plays a pivotal role in upholding this commitment. We are currently seeking dedicated Stewards to join our culinary operations. As a Steward, you’ll be an essential part of our kitchen brigade, ensuring that cleanliness and organization reign supreme. Your role is vital in maintaining a seamless and hygienic environment, allowing our culinary team to deliver exceptional dining experiences.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience working as a cleaner, dishwasher, or steward, preferred.
  • Understanding of the important of maintain hygiene and cleanliness standards in a kitchen or dining area.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Flexibility and adapt, ready to switch tasks as needed in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative to keep work areas clean and stocked during shifts.
  • Efficient time management skills to complete tasks during busy periods, with a sense of urgency and commitment to excellence.
  • Reliable, dependable, and consistent in performing duties.
  • Basic communication skills to interact with kitchen and serving staff.

Responsibilities:

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate dishwashing equipment to clean and sanitize dishes, glassware, flatware, cookware, and kitchen utensils.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen area by cleaning countertops, food preparation surfaces, stovetops, ovens, coolers, freezers, and kitchen equipment.
  • Remove stains from china and cutlery as required. Polish chafing dishes for banquets as needed. Pull, count, and polish china for banquet functions as requested by chefs.
  • Assist in receiving, storing, and organizing kitchen supplies, including cleaning and organizing loading dock, waste containers and all trash binds from food production and service areas.
  • Ensure all access and traffic areas are clear and clean. Ensure floors are properly mopped using hot water and cleaning solution.
  • Keep all equipment in the Steward’s area in good condition. Report any breakdowns in equipment to the kitchen chef/manager immediately.
  • Ensure dish machine is drained and filters are cleaned regularly, as needed.
  • Adhere to safety and sanitation guidelines and abide by Alyeska Resort policies in regard to accident and incident reporting procedures.
  • Collaborate closely with kitchen staff, chefs, servers, and other team members to maintain a smooth flow of operations.
  • Follow cleaning schedules and checklists to ensure that all areas of the kitchen are cleaned and maintained according to established standards.

  • Physical demands: Ability to lift and carry loads of up to 25 pounds regularly, ensuring the proper handling of kitchen equipment and dishware. Frequent bending and stooping to reach lower storage areas and access dishwashing equipment. Pushing or pulling heavy equipment or carts when required to support kitchen operations. Extended periods of standing to fulfill dishwashing and kitchen support responsibilities.
  • Work Environment: The Steward/Dishwasher role may involve occasional extended hours, including nights and weekends, as needed to support the demands of peak business periods. Operating within a dynamic and fast-paced kitchen environment, you will work collaboratively with kitchen staff and maintain a high level of interaction with team members, ensuring the efficient flow of dishwashing and kitchen support activities
