Job title: Responsible Investment Analyst
Location: Edinburgh or London
Salary: Circa £40,000 + DOE
Hours: Full time
Working Pattern: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at our above offices.

You’ll play a strong supporting role in developing a leading RI and stewardship proposition in line with our RI policies and will assist in all areas of responsible investment activities of Scottish Widows as required.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Research - Production of research across priority themes as required, including company and sector research, assessing internal holdings data (knowledge of company codes, asset classes crucial) to build coherent portfolio analysis and engagement priorities.
  • Data analysis - Performs complex RI & stewardship data analysis & processing using established procedures and testing new procedures. Supports and enables others to use and benefit from existing RI data management systems.
  • Active Ownership - Supports Scottish Widows on collaborative engagement programs, in line with Scottish Widows established stewardship priorities as well as direct corporate engagement and voting analysis.
  • Reporting – Supports reporting on our activities, in line with SW standards, customer requirements, and regulatory and industry practice. Leads/supports on the development of MI and Reporting for key internal/external partners and customer queries. Produces related materials as required.
  • Record keeping - Maintains and leads engagement and voting records, contributing to the development and maintenance of an efficient and effective record keeping system.
  • Asset manager engagement - Support regular engagement with asset managers; including organisation and recording of meeting notes.
  • Collaboration - Engages, with key people in SW to ensure that their views are taken into account in the development of initiatives and that appropriate governance processes are being adhered to.
  • Development - Stay up to date with external research and publications, producing summaries for use within the team. Develops personal capabilities using existing formal and informal training opportunities.

What you’ll need:

  • Industry knowledge - Understanding of responsible investment, sustainable finance and ESG regulatory space with a particular focus on investments. Pension knowledge desirable.
  • Collaboration – ability to bring together all parties and ensure successful partnership on things mandate developments.
  • Data Analysis - able to structure and complete complex data.
  • Pro-activity– Ability to take initiative, plan based on priorities and take action to deliver goals in an organised & effective manner.
  • Commerciality – Delivering with the end customer in mind and an understanding of industry expectations and competitors.
  • Dealing with complexity – ability to quickly gain awareness of a large and complex organisational structure and products. Able to use internal network to quickly make change happen.
