SPECIFIC JOB DESCRIPTION:

ANSER is seeking a Strategic Communication Analyst to support the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense (OASD) Special Operations Low-Intensity Conflict (SO/LIC) in managing ASD (SO/LIC) social media engagement. The primary purpose of this position is to provide assistance with developing and managing a digital engagement strategy, managing strategic communications, outreach, and public engagements, developing talking points and speeches, and serving as the liaison with OSD Public Affairs. Specific tasks include:

  • Manage day-to-day social media engagement on behalf of ASD(SO/LIC). Develop proactive digital engagement strategy and lead coordination of social media engagement across special operations entities, including U.S. Special Operations Command and sub-components.
  • Engage external organizations to identify and develop strategic public engagements for ASD(SO/LIC).
  • Provide on-site support, as needed, during public engagements featuring the ASD(SO/LIC).
  • Support ASD(SO/LIC) front office staff in strategic planning of ASD(SO/LIC)’s participation in senior decision meetings and external stakeholder engagements.
  • Coordinate scheduling and other administrative support with SO/LIC Front Office Military and Executive Assistants.
  • Coordinate across SO/LIC offices to develop read ahead packages, talking points, speeches, briefing slides, or other necessary materials in advance of external engagements.
  • Serve as SO/LIC liaison to OSD(PA). Manage SO/LIC inputs into Department press guidance, coordination of media inquiries, and provide SO/LIC leadership with key media clips for situational awareness. In coordination with OSD(PA), coordinate media engagements for ASD(SO/LIC) and provide necessary support.
  • Coordinate and compile strategic messaging products and talking points for use by SO/LIC personnel in external engagements. Maintain accessible database to ensure access to products across SO/LIC.
  • Serve as an executive level editor for ASD(SO/LIC) papers, memoranda, briefing slides, and other written products.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in a discipline relevant to the position plus at least 3 years’ experience managing social media.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience managing social media for Government, corporate, or other institutional accounts;
  • Ability to interface with senior level management;
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of teams and collaborate across organizational lines;
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills; and,
  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility.
