We are looking for a Strategic Communications Lead on a part time basis (circa 20 hrs p/w) to join our team in Northampton or Annesley (working remotely up to 80% of time, subject to business requirements).
This role will sit alongside the CEC, UK Operating Board, and advise the MD and wider teams with strategy communication and engagement strategies to drive business performance to deliver growth in the areas of Colleagues, Customers, Communities and Sustainability.
The position will offer a salary range of £75,000-85,000 DOE pro rata.

Key responsibilities:
1. Strategy Leadership Advice
a. To act as the lead advisor for strategy communications, supporting the UK MD and HRD and provide professional advice, expertise, and leadership on all aspects of strategy communications with colleagues.
b. To provide strategic advice and expertise to support the CEC including the lead and facilitation of quarterly CEC strategy, planning and development sessions to maintain clear direction and activity for focused delivery and accountability.
c. To support the wider leadership team to bring strategy to life and inform and motivate colleagues, developing opportunities for feedback and contribution to UK strategy and goal activity.
2. Strategy Communication and Narrative
a. To continue to develop a coherent and compelling narrative and messaging to support YLUK’s strategy, using agreed tactical opportunities, aligned with Internal Comms planning.
b. To develop and embed effective engagement strategies, by agreement, to maintain a strong and consistent business strategy narrative and drumbeat/schedule that’s aligned appropriately with YLUK, and group set vision and values.
c. To take a lead role to continue to develop translations of key strategy communications by working with an established multilingual colleague base (Romanian and Polish).
3. Employee Engagement
a. To take a lead role to continue to drive the UK’s strategic business planning and decision making to build an engaged, and motivated workforce.
4. Continuous Improvement
a. To track colleague sentiment and response to ‘strategy’ and adopt interventions and plans with an objective of shaping YLUK’s business planning, to increase colleague engagement levels and business performance, using input from the colleague Translator Team and colleague engagement survey results.

Key requirements:

  • Degree level qualification in Public Relations, Marketing or Communications or equivalent post-educational experience gained in industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of industry communication and engagement best practice.
  • Worked across multiple sectors in medium sized and corporate enterprises.
  • Experience of operating at Board level.
  • Advised and supported executive teams to deliver strategy, business growth and performance.
  • Experienced coach, supporting senior leaders to improve their communications performance and style.
  • Design and delivery of companywide communication and engagement strategies.
  • Management of external suppliers e.g. visual design, event management and film production companies.
  • Advised on reputation management to maintain and build brand value.
  • Able to facilitate and co-create strategic communication and business strategies, gaining buy in for measurable results.
  • Skilled in developing narrative and key messaging frameworks to set the tone for companywide transformation programmes, brand, vision and values.
  • Leadership of large (incl. virtual) cross functional teams to successfully deliver complex change and engagement programmes.
  • Outcome focused and able to deliver objectives to agreed timescales and budget.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Driving licence and ability to travel
