What You Will Do:
Guidehouse is seeking a Strategic Communications & Policy Managing Consultant to join the Defense and Security Segment (D&S) Defense & Intelligence (D&I) Practice Area. The candidate will support a D&I team dedicated to advancing the mission of a Defense program & policy office.
The Strategic Communications & Planning Managing Consultantwill lead the development of deliverables and interact with the client daily to ensure engagement success. This includes supporting day-to-day operational meetings with client sponsors and consulting leaders. The Managing Consultant is expected to have experience managing workstreams, advising clients, and creating effective reports and presentations for the client and internal executives. The Managing Consultant is also expected to participate in business development activities.

Typical duties include:

  • Supporting senior government leadership, serving as a trusted advisor on matters concerning Suicide Prevention efforts
  • Providing communications support with consistent messaging and compliance with government standards
  • Developing and producing a toolkit of outreach strategies and professional correspondence
  • Providing support to Congressional and Legislative responses, to include drafting and refining policy documents and information papers
  • Supporting strategic events through administration, planning and coordination, and execution to ensure success
  • Supporting the development of policies and strategies, along with commensurate compliance assessment methodologies
  • Providing program management support to uphold cost, schedule, and quality standards
  • Support government outreach efforts to create and promote partnerships with communities

What You Will Need:

  • Ability to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a SECRET Federal or DoD security clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • TEN (10) years of experience in communications and/or business analysis/policy
  • Ability to work onsite up to 5 days per week at client location(s) in the DMV

What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • An ACTIVE and MAINTAINED SECRET Federal or DoD security clearance
  • Experience focused on strategic communications.
  • Experience with Department of Defense, Public Health domain and/or Suicide Prevention or Legislative Affairs
  • Ability to adapt quickly and develop successful professional relationships.
  • Ability to assume ownership of significant portions of tasks while collaborating with a close-knit team.
  • Ability to use flexible approaches for the identification of client challenges and solutions.
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills across all levels of business, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously, prioritize and plan work activities while meeting respective deadlines.
