Description:
We’re TransPennine Express and we’re going places. Whether that’s helping customers reach their destination, or ensuring our colleagues feel fulfilled and supported in their careers. We’re looking for people with drive and enthusiasm to join our amazing team and help push for more progress within the rail industry. We look forward to meeting new faces and eager minds, ready to join our mission of creating a better-connected network in the North and Scotland, for good.
Over the next decade TransPennine Express will benefit from a series of high-profile infrastructure projects which has the need to keep our customers moving with as little disruption as possible to their journey during their delivery and when complete that the finished product meets their needs. The most notable is the multi-billion-pound Transpennine Route Upgrade between Manchester and York, but there are other schemes taking place across our routes.
Our people are our strength and to be strong we insist on the best people, with this in mind there is an exciting opportunity for a Strategic Customer Planning Manager to work on projects and work streams which are of benefit to customers on the route impacted by this programme. This will primarily focus on the delivery of customer handling plans during planned disruption, and in ensuring that customer requirements are met through the infrastructure design work, most notably at stations.
The successful candidate will be expected to interface with front-line grades, representatives from all directorates within the business and its key contractors. There will also be extensive collaboration and leadership with regards to other operators’ personnel (most notably Northern, Avanti, Cross Country and LNER), the alternative transport supply chain, Rail North Partnership, local combined authorities, Transport Focus and, any other bodies with an interest in the successful delivery to the customer.
The successful candidate will ideally need the following:
- experience of project management principles and tools, reporting and risk identification;
- good understanding of railway infrastructure (especially around station design), operations and customer services;
- knowledge of the railway supplier interface/relationship management;
- examples of leading cross-functional forums;
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- tact, diplomacy, and tenacity.
You are expected to be a business leader, accountable for your actions and business performance, whilst challenging yourself as an individual to be even better. As a leader you will continually develop your skills and fully demonstrate the company values.
