Please note that SYMCA follows a structured salary grading system for all roles, and the offered salary for each post will be at the starting point within the specified grade. Key Responsibilities
Here at South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority, we are looking for a Strategic Lead with a focus on our Investment Zone. This presents an opportunity across South Yorkshire where the selected individual will play a pivotal role in driving economic growth and development across the South Yorkshire region. What is the Investment Zone? We have developed with the Government a comprehensive strategic plan for the South Yorkshire Investment Zone programme, taking into account the region’s unique strengths, opportunities, and challenges. Focussed on the Advanced Manufacturing sector with initial funding of £80 million over 5 years, now extended to £160 million over 10 years, the Strategic Lead will be responsible for identifying investment opportunities that have the potential to drive economic expansion and job creation across the region. You will coordinate all Investment Zone activity, including evaluating investment proposals, marketing and communication and stakeholder management.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
The ideal candidate for this role will possess strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate others through difficult times and periods of significant change. Have significant experience working at a senior level as a visionary and/or technical lead around Investment approaches, ideally in a local government setting. The ability to run multiple pieces of activity - managing partnerships across universities, good at relationship building and someone who is collaborative. You will have a strong grasp when it comes to having experience of successful leadership experience in an economic development role. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is currently working in a similar role and is passionate about investment across South Yorkshire and Mayors Agenda.
