Help shape the future of Edmonton! The Urban Growth and Open Space Section is looking for a Strategic Planning Analyst to join our dynamic team. As a key contributor, you’ll play a vital role in developing and implementing strategies that guide Edmonton’s growth, ensuring a vibrant and sustainable city for generations to come.
In this role, you will be a part of a collaborative and multi-disciplinary team that is at the forefront of shaping Edmonton’s urban landscape. You will provide expertise in strategy development, project management, and data analysis to support the growth management program. Your contributions will help ensure that Edmonton’s growth is fiscally responsible, well-planned, and aligned with the City’s vision for the future.
SKILLS REQUIRED FOR SUCCESS:
- In-depth knowledge of strategic planning principles, project management methodologies, and data analysis techniques
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and present it in a clear and concise manner

Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field such as urban planning or economics
- At least 5 years of practical work experience in strategic planning, project management, or data analysi
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain an understanding of growth management’s role, importance, and connections with corporate initiatives and processes
- Support growth management initiatives, including assessing the fiscal impacts of growth through guiding the use and development of a variety of tools
- Develop strategic business cases in support of new initiatives and research key planning issues related to growth management and the fiscal impacts growth
- Collaborate with other City business areas to understand infrastructure needs relative to the City’s growth and change
- Manage projects related to the growth management program, including development of work plans, budgets, risk mitigation, and procurement
- Coordinate with integrated teams and subject matter experts to ensure projects are completed effectively and efficiently
- Identify performance monitoring indicators for the growth management program and use results to identify effective programs/initiatives and to recommend changes to the program to improve performance
- Provide strategic advice to management on the implementation and application of data and analytics
- Support the Senior Planner and leadership by advising on approaches to issues and communicating the growth management program to stakeholders
- Adjust program deliverables to meet goals and objectives, and participate in performance conversations
Qualifications:
