This position is dedicated to driving operational efficiency projects within the Parks and Roads Services Branch, leveraging data analytics and storytelling to inform decision-making. The role focuses on managing key initiatives related to fleet management, 311 inquiries, technology management, analytics, and advanced reporting. Additionally, this position supports the development of short, medium, and long-term strategies to enhance branch services. The outcomes of these operational strategies will result in enhanced services for citizens, improved efficiency, and greater effectiveness.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a University Degree in Business Administration, Data Analytics, Public Administration, Engineering, or a related degree
  • Certification or coursework/training certification or coursework/training in data analytics and visualization is required
  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in a leadership role within a large, complex unionized organization. Responsibilities:

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of operational business needs, priorities, and performance metrics to provide data-driven recommendations helping guide operational strategies
  • Conduct in-depth data analysis of operational practices and research industry trends to identify future challenges and opportunities for operational improvement
  • Analyze operational data to identify trends, assess needs, and develop recommendations to improve service delivery. Communicates insights and recommendations through data-driven storytelling and visualizations
  • Ensure the perspectives and needs of Parks and Roads Services management and frontline staff are incorporated into recommendations to support decision-making on operational changes, resource allocation, and process improvements
  • Advise and collaborate with leadership to guide operational strategies and process optimization, backed by thorough data analysis
  • Supports the evaluation of operational initiatives related to fleet management, 311 services, and analytics projects, ensuring alignment with branch objectives
  • Maintain oversight of short and long-term operational projects that align with budget cycles and integrate business planning with overall branch strategies
  • Working collaboratively with each of the Parks and Roads Services Branch sections to manage the process and projects involving the development, deployment, and integration of projects related to a variety of operational assets/functions
  • Define the project plans/goals, objectives, and planned deliverables including planning, scheduling, resourcing, risk assessment, cost/benefit analyses, change management, and overall costs under the leadership of the operational area
  • Determine business needs and requirements to align project approaches with operational needs through direction from leadership who provide strategic priorities
