Job Description
This position will reside within McDonald’s Global Supply Chain under the Global Strategic Sourcing Services (GSSS) organization. The team is a dynamic, progressive department which contributes directly to the bottom-line performance of the company. Global Supply Chain consults with leaders throughout the company and supports initiatives that are driving McDonald’s into the future.
The Global Equipment Category Supervisor will be responsible for developing and evolving Category Strategies and Tier 1 Suppliers to deliver a resilient and innovative supply chain that assures supply of cost-effective, reliable, and sustainable kitchen equipment. The individual will be accountable for supporting the Global Equipment Manager in the end-to-end category management of global core equipment, including category strategies, equipment development, equipment performance, after sales service/support, and supplier management. Additionally, the individual will provide support in key supply chain initiatives, pricing and contract negotiations, supplier selection and qualification, risk management, new product development, product specifications/validation requirements, equipment reliability, sustainability initiatives, data analysis, and communication.
The individual will have ongoing focus on improving the quality of products, services, and performance of the equipment categories they manage while ensuring business requirements are fulfilled and value is optimized. In addition, this individual will provide support in developing and evolving the Equipment Team’s internal processes to drive efficiencies and structure to category management. The Equipment Supervisor will report to a GSSS Manager, and will work closely with Menu Management, Operations, Legal, Supply Chain, Safety, Marketing, Restaurant Development, Markets, Franchisees and Suppliers.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Critical Competencies and Experiences:

  • Experience in effective communication via written and oral methods.
  • Strong project management skills and experience in working with cross-functional teams. Multi-market engagement a plus.
  • Experience in procurement standard methodologies such as sourcing, RFP processes including supplier negotiations, selection, evaluation, management, and development; must be able to demonstrate “hands-on” experience
  • Effectively manage multiple projects and assignments. Product development experience a plus.
  • Think critically to structure analyses and processes to solve poorly defined problems
  • Negotiate to “grow the pie” and provide mutually useful contracts and business relationships
  • Build positive working relationships both internally and externally to provide McDonald’s with goods and services at the lowest Total Cost of Ownership and lowest risk
  • Able to problem solve and search for answers using internal and external network/sources
  • Organized and able to effectively handle several responsibilities/projects at once
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a cross-functional team setting
  • Cultivates collaboration and inclusion, highly energetic and team oriented
  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills

People/Relationship Management:

  • Able to develop and sustain relationships internally and externally with partners and suppliers, as well as being able to manage up, down and laterally in the organization
  • Capable of leading, directing, supporting, and developing others
  • Capable of working effectively in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Demonstrated ability to self-start, resolving work steps based upon management direction
  • Able to align own activities with group’s goals and strategies
  • Possess natural curiosity, asking questions when necessary to understand a problem
  • Able to lead through influence, establish credibility, and holistically represent the global equipment team to internal and external partners.
  • Estimated Travel Up to 15%

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in business, supply chain, finance, engineering, or STEM fields. (Master’s degree or MBA a plus)
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in leading category strategies, supplier relationship management, sourcing initiatives, supply chain management, product development, engineering/purchasing or commensurate experience in related functions
  • International experience a plus
  • Industry Certifications (e.g. P.E., PMP, CPM, CSCP, etc.) a plus

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Equipment Supply Chain Manager with their assigned equipment categories and suppliers
  • Resolving equipment issues and support needs for various cross-functional projects that support the global or local markets
  • Translating industry trends, customer needs and opportunity analysis to design equipment specifications and implement long-term category strategy opportunities
  • Completing necessary tasks to gather key supplier data (i.e. volumes, costs, product and service performance statistics, financial information, etc.)
  • Identifying supplier risks and formulating suggested mitigation strategies
  • Reviewing and approving supplier performance standards and measurements
  • Providing input into annual category management strategies
  • Facilitating critical issues on behalf of suppliers and internal/external partners
  • Project management and execution support of category strategies, from equipment ideation, to testing protocols, to commercialization and deployment
  • Independently run assigned categories and supplier relationships
  • Negotiation of pricing, service agreements, preventative maintenance programs, warranty, etc. with suppliers
  • Ensure stock availability and inventory planning for new product releases and/or special programs
  • Understanding of manufacturing and logistics processes
  • Management of McDonald’s and Supplier risk and liability, cost mitigation.
  • Communication of new product releases as per above negotiations with alignment from key partners
  • Communicate, evaluate, measure, and implement Supplier Expectations with supplier base
  • Serve as an advocate for the Owner / Operator, Company and Supplier by leading successful resolution of field issues and minimizing recurrence through process improvement.
  • Driving all necessary communications to ensure accurate and timely flow of information to internal customers, partners, and suppliers
