ABOUT YOU
- Degree in a relevant field or equivalent knowledge and proven experience in transport policy.
- Working towards or qualified with a relevant postgraduate professional qualification in transport policy.
- Extensive experience leading teams to deliver business cases for diverse transport projects.
- Proven track record of creating and securing funding through compelling business cases.
- Strong technical knowledge in transport analysis and proficiency in using modelling software.
- Experience in community engagement and building consensus around transport initiatives.
- Ability to manage complex projects and foster strategic partnerships with stakeholders.
- Experience in commissioning and assessing technical activities to support project development.
- Expertise in innovative public engagement methods, particularly for hard-to-reach groups.
- Member of a relevant Chartered Institute (or actively working towards membership).

ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Strategic Transport Projects Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and execution of key transport projects, ensuring alignment with council objectives and community needs. Your leadership will drive initiatives that enhance mobility while promoting sustainability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead cross-service teams to develop and deliver compelling business cases for transport projects, including cycling, walking, and public transport initiatives, up to Full Business Case stage.
- Commission and manage technical expertise to ensure robust project delivery, including traffic modelling and highway design.
- Engage with communities throughout the planning process, building consensus for new schemes and facilitating behaviour change.
- Identify and secure external funding opportunities, preparing strong bids to maximize resources for transport initiatives.
- Provide expert advice and recommendations to senior managers, councillors, and stakeholders, representing the council in various forums.
