JOB SUMMARY

Your role will be to support the transformation and exploitation of a people data project to deliver a step change in how it is used to inform and shape Defence’s strategic workforce planning and the use of data across the Department. This is an opportunity for the right individual to shape how the Defence People Team becomes more data driven, and in doing this they will be expected to innovate, self-start, and exploit the autonomy that they will be given to achieve the desired outcomes.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for someone with exceptional data skills who can quickly become conversant with MoD People Data policies and processes. Applicants should have established ability in using O365 and other data analysis and visualisation applications. This is an exciting time for the post holder to support the future direction of the project, working with key stakeholders to set up a sustainable and enduring data solution for the Defence People Team.
We are looking for someone who has proven experience in workforce planning in complex organisations. A key aspect of the role is building collaborative relationships with key stakeholders within the MoD to develop strategic workforce plans shaping future work force requirements. The Job holder will work routinely with the Chief of Defence People and his senior team, providing face-to-face briefings and developing the evidence base to inform decision making. The role provides an opportunity to hone your ability to operate at senior level, whilst demonstrating your ability to think strategically and deliver quality outputs to tight deadlines

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • We are looking for an individual with strong interpersonal, leadership and strategy skills, who enjoys working in an agile environment delivering end user focused data and analytical services.
  • The Job holder should be experienced in leading analytical workstreams, understanding user needs to shape, prioritise, and deliver strategic vision.
  • A background in Armed Forces or Civilian workforce planning would be helpful but is not essential. Familiarity with JPA, HRMS/MyHR, PB&F and PowerBi would be welcome.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance. The post does not offer relocation expenses.
External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.
