REQUIREMENTS

Professional qualification required with expert technical knowledge and experience in Credit research, typically gained at BNP Paribas or within another top tier investment bank.
Professional experience in the Financial Services industry, ideally with experience in researching, analysing and setting out views on areas relevant to specialism.
Ability to proactively identify areas of development, improvement or ways to maximise results within credit research and analysis of relevant specialism and takes initiative to implement relevant actions to assigned work, in the short and long term.
Strong people management skills, and an ability to work with junior team members to set objectives and manage performance.
Strong mathematics and numerical techniques to support research work, as well as strong programming skills and relevant experience to facilitate quantitative research.
Should be recognised by others as a highly effective communicator. Can present or skilfully communicate complex ideas, strategic and critical messages or ideas to large, culturally diverse and unfamiliar audiences, including in conflicting situations, both across and throughout the hierarchy and/or the top management.
Client focus - Sees stakeholders as well as external clients as “customers”. Aims at exceeding clients’ expectations, by seeking tailored solutions to their specific needs, and going even further where possible.
Strong computer skills and a good knowledge of a range of standard computer software, e.g., Microsoft Office, email. Experience in using investment banking databases (e.g. Factset, Dealogic, Bloomberg).

Responsibilities:

JOB PURPOSE

As a Vice President in the team, the role holder will be accountable for ensuring excellence on all economic analysis, market views and trade ideas that they produce or directly oversee in their area of expertise and ensuring that these support the Bank and its clients with their objectives.

  • Contribute to desk P&L through the accuracy, nuance, timing and internal/external marketing of trade recommendations in the allocated coverage universe.
  • For public credits under active coverage, strengthen the client franchise and facilitate flow by marketing investment recommendations via, client calls, client meetings and client events.
  • In partnership with trading, sales and banking, identify credits that should potentially be actively covered within the allocated coverage universe. Produce and present investment views in line with the team’s investment process.

This role may be carried out within a range of experience depending on the development of knowledge and skills in the role and the role-holder’s ability to work with increased autonomy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Accountable for providing advanced knowledge in relation to their respective specialism within Credit 360. Applies this knowledge to promote EUR HY Credits to key stakeholders, and to complete tasks such as:
Key responsibilities
[Directing and overseeing the production of reports on the Bank’s view on Credit 360 products, or other matters related to the specialism as assigned or requested from clients or the Bank from time to time.
Engaging proactively with internal stakeholders and / or key clients (as appropriate) to market the house view on Credit 360 products.
Responding to client, management, sales and / or trading queries, as required, regarding developments in areas within personal specialism.]
Acts as a thought leader in their team, proactively seeking to identify, propose and implement innovative ideas to improve the services and products offered.
Operates predominately autonomously, under general supervision, exercising sound judgement on when to escalate more complex issues to more senior team members.
Leads in decision making related to tasks within assigned areas, influencing junior team members and supporting them with more complex problems that require sophisticated analysis or experience. Acts as a point of escalation for junior staff. May manage some junior staff members to ensure that they are effectively supported to be able to perform at the required standard.
The analyst role: produce and monetise the highest-quality credit analysis in partnership with the trading, sales, and analyst teams.
In partnership with trading, sales and banking, identify credits that should be “actively covered” within the allocated coverage universe.
Produce information on these credits to assess with trading whether they merit being actively covered.
As required, produce and present written investment rationales for internal use by sales and trading on actively covered credits.
Contribute to desk P&L through the accuracy, nuance, timing and internal/external marketing of trade recommendations.
For larger trading opportunities, present recommendations for review by the Investment Committee.
For public credits under active coverage, publish external investment recommendations for clients and these recommendations to clients via calls, meetings and events.
Monitor coverage universe for news flow and/or changes to conditions that could change either the investment view or whether a credit should be actively covered.
Proactively engage with and educate sales on actively covered credits.
Maintain an active dialogue with and provide support to banking colleagues.
Proactively manage compliance sensitivities, particularly around the handling of private information.
