DESCRIPTION OF DEPARTMENT:
The NPCC CoLP Economic Crime Portfolio focuses on asset recovery and money laundering. The aim is to enhance the law enforcement response by improving skills, capacity, and technology to prevent, detect, and disrupt money laundering activities through the national coordinators office. Work with various agencies, including the Home Office, National Economic Crime Centre (NECC) and Regional Organised Crime Units (ROCUs), to ensure a coordinated approach.
National Asset Recovery Support Unit (NARSU) is a new team within the Economic Crime Portfolio that has been funded nationally to develop a national approach to Asset Recovery in law enforcement with the aim to improve asset recovery. The team could also expand to act as a central team to review all foreign law enforcement requests to support international law enforcement regarding asset recovery against criminals that reside within the UK.
The role of the Strategy and Engagement Manager is to lead on the development of the National Asset Recovery Support Unit and support the delivery of the national strategy. The City of London Police organise and coordinate a significant network of asset recovery resources across the police service, fulfilling the City’s aims of having a significant leading presence within the recovery of national assets and developing new practices and processes to enhance asset recovery and seizure on behalf of Policing.
The role supports the head of the department by directing the NARSU admin and researcher officers who have responsibility for overseeing national delivery against strategy. The role also has responsibility for developing and maintaining a national performance framework that measures national performance. Effective engagement and communications are a core function to ensure that effective relationships across the policing, law enforcement, public and private sector landscapes are developed and maintained.
The role may require travel across the country to visit Police Forces, Regional Policing Teams, suppliers and government departments.
