You will join a friendly and supportive team of five Stroke Consultants in the delivery of stroke services across Peterborough City Hospital and Hinchingbrooke Hospital.
At North West Anglia, we are committed to fulfilling our vision in being the best at providing outstanding care to our local communities.
As our new Stroke Consultant, you will bring specialist knowledge and skills in managing stroke thrombolysis, thrombectomy referrals, TIA clinics, inpatient referrals, ward rounds and MDT as per an internal rota.
You must be member of the Royal College of Physicians or have equivalent experience, and be fully registered with the General Medical Council. We will ensure appropriate office accommodation, secretarial and IT.
We are passionate about research and innovation, and we work collaboratively with our NHS partners in the region. You will innovate our services in line with national targets and locally commissioned improvements, and participate in clinical governance and junior staff training.
We are committed to supporting your career in an environment where your skills and initiatives are valued. We respect your wellbeing and we are open to flexibility in your working patterns. We offer you a standard 10 PAs with 1:5 weekend work from 9-5pm, but we are open to negotiate the arrangement.
By joining our stroke consultant team, you will participate in the delivery of hyper-acute care including thrombolysis, acute care and rehabilitation services.
You will provide a stroke consultation and advisory service to medical colleagues in other specialties in the Trust potentially in other locations e.g., City Care Centre, Early Supported Discharge team.
In addition to the inpatient stroke services, you will support the delivery of outpatient care to Trust patients with stroke and TIA, and potentially to work with the established consultants to ensure equitable provision of stroke services across the whole of the Trust. This will include collaborative working and mutual cover for annual and study leave.
You will provide a medical input and work in conjunction with consultants and nursing colleagues to help develop stroke services for Peterborough & Southwest Lincolnshire. This should integrate multidisciplinary team working and ensuring adherence to principles of clinical governance.
In conjunction with the management and clinical colleagues, you will ensure appropriate contracting takes place with the commissioners in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire.
