Description:

Join the dedicated stroke team at Ashford & St Peter’s as a Specialist Stroke Doctor, providing high-quality, patient-centered care under the supervision and mentorship of experienced doctors, consultants, and a multidisciplinary team. This role involves delivering direct clinical care, assisting in clinical decision-making, and sharing equally in the department’s workload to ensure comprehensive senior clinical cover.
Key responsibilities include the assessment and management of patients, covering ward rounds, multi-disciplinary team meetings, and stroke and TIA clinics. The specialist doctor will aid consultants in reviewing potential admissions, developing rapid assessment triage strategies, and ensuring timely investigations and patient disposition. This will serve as part of training and development towards providing thrombolysis.
This position requires a strong general internal medicine knowledge and the role will provide the opportunity to spend one day a week on the general internal medicine rota in A&E, the clinical assessment unit or the short stay unit.
PLEASE NOTE INTERVIEWS WILL BE HELD IN PERSON ON 19th SEPTEMBER 2024
Provide direct clinical care and share in the department’s workload. Including taking the lead on Stroke Calls.
Assist in patient assessments, ward rounds, multi-disciplinary meetings, and radiology meetings.
Support consultants in reviewing admissions and developing triage strategies. Including the use of thrombolysis and CT Perfusion assessment pathways.
Participate in clinical audits, governance activities, and quality improvement initiatives.
Engage in professional development, research, and continuing medical education.
