Description:

At CBCL Limited, we are a successful, dynamic, growing engineering and environmental consulting firm. We have an exciting opportunity for a Structural Engineer to join our team in our Sydney, NS office.

Through all stages of the design process, you will be encouraged to take a leading role in delivering exceptional results for our clients.

YOUR CAPABILITIES AND CREDENTIALS:

  • University Degree in Civil Engineering specializing in Structural Engineering;
  • 7+ years of experience in structural design and construction administration;
  • Specialization in all building types, including but not limited to institutional, educational, apartment/condominium, and industrial buildings;
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in Canada with eligibility for registration or registered with Engineers NS;
  • Familiarity with Revit and AutoCAD;
  • Detail oriented, organized, hardworking, with a team player attitude;
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; and
  • Valid driver’s license and be able to travel to job sites within Atlantic Canada.

The following are considered assets:

  • Experience in structural design and construction administration in masonry restoration, water and wastewater treatment plant design as well as industrial structures, electrical utility support structures and marine works;
  • Experience with industry standard software such as ETABS, SAP 2000, S-Frame, Lusas and Revit;

Responsibilities:

  • Project Management, including financial management, resource management, change order management, and invoicing;
  • Business Development in the province of Nova Scotia;
  • Structural Design calculations and analysis;
  • Coordination of design support staff;
  • Provide mentoring and technical support to junior staff members;
  • Preparation of technical specification and construction documents;
  • Construction contract administration;
  • Periodic site work including meetings, field reviews and measurements; and
  • Meet and liaise with clients;
