Description:

iXBRL Reporting Analyst - 18-month Fixed-Term Contract
Salary: London ranging from £53,300 to £70,000 per annum
Are you interested in a role where you can help shape the FCA’s approach to iXBRL submissions in regulatory reporting?
The team/department
The role sits within a small team that provides support to the Market Oversight (MO) Directorate. This team helps identify and deliver technical improvements that help the division meet its outcomes and improves the experience for investors and the companies we interact with. Its work is strategic, innovative and transformational in its nature.
The vacancy in this team is for a senior associate to support work on IXBRL (inline eXtensible Business Reporting Language) structured reporting with a particular focus on working with stakeholders to develop UK taxonomies, FCA policy and rules.
What you will be doing (the role)
The world of financial reporting is changing with the advent of digital filing of Annual Financial Reports (AFRs) in a structured iXBRL format. Companies that issue securities are required to use this technology and apply digital metadata ‘tags’ to the information in the reports using a defined taxonomy of possible tags.
This means the data in their reports can be identified, extracted, compared and analysed more efficiently. The technology has the potential to significantly improve the efficiency of capital markets.
The FCA has a strategy that seeks to develop its rules on structured reporting and exploit the information to improve future compliance and to detect problems. This aligns with its role of being a forward-looking proactive regulator which includes taking advantage of data and technology to increase our ability to act decisively.

Working alongside a colleague and in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders you will have responsibility for:

  • Developing an approach for evolving UK taxonomies for AFRs that keep pace with internationally adopted standards and developments
  • Leading work to deliver the necessary policy, FCA rule and guidance changes
  • Working with the FRC and other stakeholders to agree and implement a process for the delivery and updating of taxonomies
  • Leading work to consider and develop structured formats for other types of reports and disclosures
  • Supporting work to liaise with the FRC and other stakeholders at a UK and international level to collaborate and understand wider developments in iXBRL and digital reporting
  • Supporting work to improve data quality and measurement of outcomes

What you will get from the role
This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in and shape the FCA’s approach to iXBRL submissions in regulatory reporting. You will also enjoy a unique insight into securities regulation in the UK at a time of change, and work collaboratively to make a real impact. In addition will also develop an understanding of the FCA’s role in maintaining market integrity and gain exposure to a wide range of people within and outside the FCA.
Our competitive flexible benefits scheme gives you the opportunity to create a personalised benefits package, tailored to suit your lifecycle. You can use this allowance to purchase additional benefits such as dental or cycle to work or you have the option top up your base salary by taking this as cash.

Core benefits that you will receive as standard are:

  • 25 days holiday per year plus bank holidays
  • Private healthcare with Bupa
  • A non-contributory Pension of at least 8% of basic salary each month (there are several contribution levels that increase depending on your age – up to 12% a month once you reach age 35)
  • Life assurance of eight times your basic salary
  • Income protection

We support hybrid working which means you will be able to work from home up to 60% of the time over a month with the remainder of your time in our London office.
