Description:

THE OPPORTUNITY:

Edinburgh College of Art is seeking to recruit a part-time Student and Academic Support Assistant on an open-ended basis.
The successful post holder will be providing administrative and general support to the ECA Student and Academic Support Service (SASS). They will act as the first point of contact for students and staff coming into the Student Support or Student Administration subject area Hub offices or contacting us remotely (email, teams, telephone), providing a basic triage of enquiries, handling and responding to basic enquiries and escalating more complex or unusual enquiries to more senior staff in the team.
You will be required to understand key University policies/regulations and apply them using established processes and procedures to deliver assistance to students. You will be expected to demonstrate initiative and good judgement in managing cases and take responsibility for resolution of queries either completing the task yourself or knowing where to pass the query to a more senior/experience colleague. Clear guidance will be available and allocation/quality of work will be managed by senior administrative colleagues
This post is open ended (permanent) and part-time (21 hours per week) . We are open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.
The salary for this post is UE04 £ 25,433 to £ 28,081 per annum, pro rata.

YOUR SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES FOR SUCCESS:

  • Tactful manner, good communication skills both verbal and written. May need to deal with difficult situations or be first contact for a student in distress.
  • Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
  • Good judgement, using awareness and understanding of procedures and policies to know when cases may need to be escalated.
  • Excellent administrative and IT skills.Good time management and organisational skills.
