ROBERT KOCH INSTITUT - FG37 “NOSOCOMIAL INFECTIONS, SURVEILLANCE OF ANTIBIOTIC RESISTANCE AND CONSUMPTION”
The RKI offers a stimulating working environment with varied activities in a supportive team and the opportunity to work on a global health project with Namibia funded by the Ministry of Health (BMG). Master’s theses are regularly supervised by the department’s academic staff. There are also various training opportunities.
Student assistant (R programming/statistics)
40 hours/month at the earliest possible date – Robert Koch Institute – Department of “Nosocomial infections, surveillance of antibiotic resistance and consumption”
WORKING FIELD:
Our department supports the National Reference Laboratory in Windhoek, Namibia, in the statistical evaluation of data on antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Our contact person there was trained at the RKI for 6 weeks in the R programming language and will continue the data analysis in Windhoek. In order to support the analyzes here, we are looking for a student assistant with programming experience in R and good knowledge of statistics.
Participation in the planned analyzes includes in particular:
- Development of R scripts and Rmarkdown reports to support the partners in Windhoek with data analysis
- Communication and support when using R (e.g. troubleshooting) – online
REQUIREMENTS:
- Currently studying full-time at a German university
- Advanced R knowledge
- Ideally already experience with data wrangling of larger data sets
- Good English knowledge
Advantageous
- Interest in public health and/or microbiology
- Basic methodological knowledge in quantitative empirical research
