EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Familiarity with GPS technology, an asset.
  • Familiarity with Builterra Inspection software considered an asset
  • Ability to read and interpret plan and profile and drawings.
  • Experience with ACAD and Microsoft Office products and GIS Technology.
  • Previous experience in civil construction projects, an asset.
  • Comfortable working with databases.
  • Demonstrated capacity to recognize problems or issues and determine appropriate course of action.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Supervisor, Inspection and Support, the successful student will perform the following duties:

  • Assist lead inspector with field locates required for construction projects.
  • Undertake field measurements during construction to verify quantities for payment such as pipe lengths or rock calculations etc.
  • Be responsible for taking clear, and concise field notes and records for completion of as-built drawings and records i.e. tie-ins, elevations and grades of new and existing utility underground plant.
  • Complete as-built drawings/sketches as required including lot service detail sheets.
  • Liaise with residents and businesses affected by the construction project.
  • Undertake preliminary survey work and data collection.
  • Ensure contractor compliance with contract documents and specifications.
  • GPS surveying.
  • Migrate data from field to office computers.
  • Maintain and clean equipment.
