Description:

Student Data Scientist – EU Power Markets (Internship)
We are currently looking for a bright, analytically skilled and communicative individual. As a Student Data Scientist – EU Power Markets at ICIS you will be involved in a development project, modelling the European power markets. This will give you the opportunity to dive into the functioning of the promising electricity market and apply your knowledge in practice.
You will develop your own ideas and contribute significantly to our products. To do so, you will work together with our experienced analyst team to receive support and to have challenging discussions about your project and analysis.
We offer our students a high degree of flexibility regarding working hours – you can organise your working hours independently.
As a leading research and prognosis provider we have access to a wide range of data and optimization tools. Furthermore, we have highly skilled analysts that help you get started and provide valuable discussions.

Main responsibilities

  • Modelling and forecasting European short-term power markets
  • Support the analyst team in analytics developments and data routines
  • Assisting with the project back-testing of statistical, machine learning, or optimization model of the European electricity markets
  • Analyzing model results and make suggestions for improvements

Key skills

  • Interest in electricity markets, market analysis and forecasting
  • High level of interest in learning new modelling techniques
  • Analytical mindset, critical thinking, and high engagement
  • Good communication skills in German and English
  • Experience in programming (Python, Matlab, GAMS, SQL, etc.) is a strong advantage
  • Completed Bachelor’s degree in the MINT subjects or in economic science is a strong advantage
